Overview
Local Minnesota Indigenous, Sac and Fox (Sauk) artist creating illustrations and beadwork in celebration of pride in identity, as a young Native woman with chronic illness. Wi Pe Kwi (Iris Roane), continues on the business of her grandmother, Sac and Fox Designs, and provides contemporary Native jewelry and artwork. The jewelry and illustrations created by Iris Roane are drawn from her personal experience with disability, womanhood, and being indigenous, embracing her full identity. By sharing her creations with the world, she intends to advocate for the celebration of all of our complex , individual identities and stories.
